Expandi is a LinkedIn automation platform. ContentMonk built a content programme aimed at lead generation agency owners and routed the traffic into a private community rather than a demo form. Six months in, more than 4,000 of an addressable market of roughly 6,000 had joined, and pipeline passed $3 million.
Expandi wanted a content programme built for lead generation, not for traffic. Its buyers were lead generation agency owners, a market small enough to count and specific enough to reach.
A market of roughly six thousand people changes the maths. Ranking for a term with fifty thousand monthly searches is worth nothing if none of those searchers run a lead gen agency. The whole programme had to be aimed at a group that could be named.
The usual route would have been to rank, then push everyone into a demo. For a market this tight, that spends the audience once. A demo request either converts or it does not, and either way the relationship is over.
Agency owners are also a sceptical audience for outreach software. They evaluate tools for a living and they talk to each other. Anything that reads as a funnel gets recognised as one.
The first job was to own the searches those agency owners run. Within weeks the programme held the top of the SERP for the queries a lead generation agency owner types when they are trying to run their business better: pricing retainers, handling client reporting, scaling delivery without hiring.
Those are not searches about LinkedIn automation. They are searches about running an agency, which is why they reached the right people and why the competition for them was thin.
The second job was deciding where that traffic went. Instead of a demo funnel, readers were invited into a private community of their peers.
That changed the economics of every visit. Someone who joins a community stays reachable for months, sees the product in use by people they trust, and arrives at a buying conversation already most of the way there. Expandi ended up with a standing relationship with its market rather than one conversation per lead.
After six months the community held more than 4,000 lead generation agency owners, out of an addressable market of roughly 6,000.
Two thirds of a market inside one channel is a different kind of asset from a traffic number. It means most of the people who could ever buy the product were in a room Expandi hosted.
Pipeline attributed to the programme passed $3 million over the same six months.
The community also fed the content. A room full of buyers tells you what they are struggling with this month, which kept the programme aimed at real problems instead of keyword research.
