What is an AI visibility checker?

An AI visibility checker asks AI assistants the questions your buyers ask, then shows you what they answer: which brands they recommend, in what order, and which pages they cite as sources.

More buyers now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI Overviews which company to pick before they visit a single website. Those answers usually name 7 to 10 brands. If yours is not one of them, you never see the visit you lost.

One answer is not enough, because AI answers change from one ask to the next. That's why the checker asks every prompt several times on each assistant and counts how often your brand comes up.

How to get recommended in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI

Your results show where you stand. This is how we turn them into AI mentions and customers for the 70+ companies our agency runs AEO and SEO for.

The short version
  • Check the prompts buyers ask right before they choose a vendor, not broad topic questions.
  • Get mentioned on the sources AI already cites for those prompts.
  • Publish a page on your own site that answers each prompt better than anything AI cites today.
  • Track how often you're named, and judge it by the customers it brings.

1. Check the prompts that decide purchases

"What is AEO?" won't bring you customers. "Best AEO software for a small B2B team" will. Pick prompts the way a buyer asks them, with the details that matter to them:

  • Category prompts: "best [category] for [type of company]".
  • Comparison prompts: "[competitor] alternatives", "[you] vs [competitor]".
  • Problem prompts: "how do I [problem you solve] without [common pain]".
  • Local prompts: "best [service] in [city]", if you sell locally.

Your sales calls are the best source. Write down the exact words customers used when they found you.

2. Read who gets named, and why

AI usually names 7, 8 or 10+ brands in one answer. Look at the brands that show up in most answers and ask what they have that you don't: more reviews, more mentions in roundups, clearer pages about the exact use case.

3. Get onto the sources AI already trusts

Your results list the pages and domains AI cites for each prompt. Those pages decide who gets named. Work through them in order:

  • Roundups and "best of" lists: ask the author to include you, with one line on why you belong.
  • Review sites: complete your profile and ask happy customers for reviews.
  • Reddit and forums: answer real questions honestly. Don't spam links.
  • Industry publications: pitch data, a story or an expert quote.

This is the part most agencies skip, and it's often what moves AI answers fastest.

4. Publish the page that answers the prompt

If AI cites listicles for a prompt, publish an honest comparison. If it cites product pages, make sure yours answers the exact question. Open each section with a direct answer, use real numbers and real examples, and keep the content in the HTML so AI crawlers can read it.

5. Manage what AI says about you

Getting named is half the job. Buyers ask AI follow-up questions about your pricing, strengths and weaknesses. Read every answer that mentions you. If AI gets your pricing or features wrong, fix the pages it learns from: your own pricing and product pages first, then the third-party pages that describe you.

6. Don't chase hacks

Hidden text, AI-bait pages and mass-produced content work for a few weeks at best. AI recommends brands with clear positioning, real customer proof and genuinely useful pages, the same things that win on Google. AEO and SEO are the same game.

7. Track it, then measure customers

AI answers change daily, so one check is a snapshot. Track your key prompts over time, watch the sources AI cites, and connect AI referral traffic to signups and deals. First results can come within 2 to 3 weeks. The result that counts is customers.

Mistakes we see with AI visibility

Checking vanity prompts

Being named for "what is [category]" rarely brings buyers. Check the prompts people ask right before they choose.

Trusting one answer

AI answers change every time. Look at how often you're named across many runs.

Only fixing your own site

AI builds answers from third-party pages. Your site alone won't get you named.

Ignoring what AI says

Being named with wrong pricing or features can cost you the deal. Read the answers.

AI visibility checker questions

Is the AI visibility checker free?

Yes. You can run a few checks a day with a work email. You don't need an account or a card.

Which AI assistants does it check?

ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI. Each prompt is asked three times on each one, because AI answers change from one ask to the next.

Which prompts should I check?

The questions buyers ask right before they choose a vendor: "best [category] for [type of company]", "[competitor] alternatives" and the problems you solve, in their words.

Why does AI name my competitors and not me?

AI recommends the brands it finds on pages it trusts. The sources in your results show which pages AI relies on for your prompts. Getting mentioned on those pages, and having a page that answers the prompt, is how brands get named.

Can I track my AI visibility over time?

Yes. ContentMonk tracks your prompts every day across the major AI assistants and shows you what to write or update to get named more often. Start a free trial from your results page.

How long do my results stay available?

Your results link stays live for 30 days.
